Tensile Testing reveals the tensile properties of the tested material. Usually performed on bar stock and sheet stock after heat treating, tensile testing may be used to test any metallic material.
The material is prepped by machining a dog-bone test specimen from the parent stock. Our in house machine shop provides quick turn-around preparation service, or the customer may provide their own dog-bone for testing.
The specimen is placed into the tensile machine, and slowly stretched until failure. A computer records the ultimate and yield tensile strengths, as well as the elongation of the specimen.
